CycloGraph

After you enter the distances and the heights, with a simple mouse click you can be presented with a plot of the gradient – that is the main bit of functionality you can expect to get from CycloGraph, a free application offered to Windows and GNU/Linux users from all over the world.

Putting the spotlight on Microsoft’s operating system, it must be said that CycloGraph is available as an installer and as a portable version. Download the small installer, run it, and after going through a simple setup wizard you will have CycloGraph up and running on your PC. To get started with the portable edition, you must only download a small archive that is available on the CycloGraph official webpage.

The data for the slope you’re working on is presented as a list on the main part of the interface. Above this panel there’s a toolbar with buttons for various functions offered by CycloGraph: add more entries to the list, edit existing ones, import KML, and more.

Using CycloGraph is a simple process: add entries to the slope list (entries must contain height and distance info), then hit the Plot button from the upper right hand side. Once you do so, CycloGraph will take the data and use it to plot the gradient of the slope. You will be presented with a visual representation of the slope, representation that you can customize with themes and by choosing to enable/disable the 3D effect.

CycloGraph is released under a GNU General Public License, which means it is a free application. You can use it as a nice alternative to Salitaker or other plotting software.

CycloGraph is free, it is very easy to use, it allows you to customize the output, and it works as advertised. This is a very nice plotting tool indeed.
